SMH - When the last word isn't...

Friday was just one of those days that make you go hmmmm. I am a documentation manager for my company. Which means I create and issue docs for the production floor. I routinely handle requests like below all the time.

Cast of Characters:

Emp1 - Quality co-worker
Emp2 - Production co-worker
Emp3 - Planning co-worker
Emp4 - Document co-worker
Docmgr - Me
Otrmgr - Other manager
pkmgr - floor manager
Bossman - my director

"the document" - the paperwork that I was to generate

Blue italics are my after comments

8:21am - get email from Emp1

Can you please prepare these "the document"? I don't need to answer this - it just gets done but I was working on another job at the time. I have never gotten a request from this person as it is Emp3 responsibility - I was not informed of when this was required.

10:20am - get email from Emp 2

Can I please have the number for "the document"?

10:29am - I email Emp2 with the requested information Documentation usually follows (but I was working on another job)

And then the crazy begins )

Frustration

A few weeks ago our Weight Watchers leader announced that one of our members applied to become a leader. In most cases I would be cheering for any member because weight lose is not easy no matter how much you have to lose. It is about commitment to self and feeling good. Unfortunately I don’t feel that way about this member. She is perhaps one of the most annoyingly smug self centered condescending people I have ever observed.

Another SMH

My neighbor across the street (I live on a cul-de-sac) runs what may be considered a boarding house. She rents out the basement, garage, and 1st level of the house. The house is in terrible disrepair. She had the roof replaced this summer due to the superstorm - but they neglected to replace the roof over the front porch/door - so that is a different color/type. The house and property outside are in need of some TLC. Not gonna happen.

There are usually 2 cars in the driveway and about 5 parked in front of their house and also in front of the sump (which is next to our property). Some of the tenants are very nice but my husband has been observing what we consider to be some odd behavior recently.

Hubby comes home around lunch time - what he noticed last week was when the owner wasn't home - someone (hiding behind a door) sends a little boy (maybe 2 or 3) out on the front steps. Then the little boy pulls his pants down and pees on the wooden steps??? He has observed this at least 5 times. Who does this???? I am really confused about what to do - was thinking of taking a picture and sending it to the homeowner (I never see her) and we don't speak the same language. I wonder if she is aware that someone (not the boys fault) is peeing on her property... Oh yuck...

The search for the perfect dog food...

When we first got Pharaoh hubby wanted him on a high protein/ high energy food. While he did pretty well on the food (I think it was Nutro) - he always had a bit of a funky aroma in comparison to Sheba. I would give them baths at the same time and he would always get this odd smell. He also started developing little bumps all over his body - no scratching but lots of bumps.
I thought the bumps could be a contact dermatitis thing but I hadn't changed anything including their shampoo. At the time I had joined a Dobe group on one of my Blogs. I started learning about the different issues with the breed. One of which was allergies - Oh yay! The allergies are controllable by using Benadryl - go figure. I did quite a bit of research and found that one of the best foods was Innova and Innova Evo which do not contain grains. Grains (corn - wheat) can be allergens in animals just as they can be in humans. So my search was on for a local place to purchase.
I finally found a nice local shop that sold the Innova and they kept it in supply for me - they were very nice there. I weaned the 2 of them off of the old food and onto the new over a couple of weeks. They did extremely well on the new food - after a couple of months I stopped the Benadryl - no lumps and no funky aroma... The food is not cheap at $50 for a 30+lb bag, but I figured I was saving on the Benadryl. They both did very well on it for a couple of years.
Then last summer at their yearly check up the vet wanted them to go on Hills Prescription Diet (J/D - joint disease). As they are large breed dogs arthritis is a concern. In addition Pharaoh had knee surgery so he is already on Glucosamine and Chondroiton. The vet thought it would be better getting the G&C in the food. Again I weaned both dogs to the new food. It went well - no side effects until I got the 3rd bag. Recently after getting the 3rd bag I gave both of them a bath. When giving him his bath I noticed bumps (oh no not again) and within 2 weeks I noticed the funky aroma was back. Now I didn't have Benadryl on hand so I did more research and found that dogs could take Zyrtec - as I have that on hand I gave him 1/2 pill and the bumps magically went away.
So I've done more research and found that Innova has a food with Glucosamine and Chondroiton. The Innova also does not contain Corn or corn products which is the first ingredient in the Science Diet. The first 2 ingredients in the Innova are Turkey and Chicken.... So I am going to wean them yet again to the Innova Senior plus. I am choosing the senior because they are large breed dogs (Dobermans) and are considered senior at 6 years old. They are both nearing that 6 year mark and the food has all the proper nutrients. The Prescription Diet, which you can only get from the vet was costing us $78 a 30+lb bag which is crazy! I'll save money and my dogs will be healthier...
I have never gone through so much looking for the best food for my animals. What we do for those we love! Pharaoh is laying next to me now - snoring! I love my fur babies!

Strange day

Cross posted.

As I usually do in the mornings I pull a single tarot card - light incense and light a candle. The tarot is used to give me insight into the day. Today I pulled the Tower... and since I don't like pulling the tower and want to see beyond it - I pulled a modifier... the 10 of swords (some modifier!)....

Anywho - went off to work... get there put my coffee and a bagel on the shelf outside the lab so that I can unlock the door... yep spilled coffee and bagel (that is twice I've done that - beginning to think that bagel is not what I am supposed to have in the morning.) So I clean up my little mess - hit the kitchen and get myself some more coffee, fortunately the bagel was mostly unscathed.

I got quite a lot accomplished and was getting ready to leave when I noticed I didn't hear anything... I put on my coat and started to leave and noticed all the lights were not on - since they are motion detector lights I wasn't concerned... but I was getting that feeling that I was alone... I get to the door to go out and that realization was dead on... I was locked in work!

I headed back to the lab and hit the phones - I finally got in touch with someone who came and let me out. I can not believe how dead on the cards were this morning...

The tower - "We will feel afraid, shaken and insecure. It is a time of great turmoil as we seek to understand how we could have been so wrong, so fooled, so naive, or so blind. And Oh God, what will we do, how will we manage?!"

The 10 of Swords - The Ten of Swords portends a difficult experience of loss or release, but a new awareness and a positive sense of relief that the difficulty is finally finished will eventually follow the pain of this experience. Though this card may seem negative at first glance, it is a card of hope and an indication that our troubles will not be permanent.

So a bad situation was not as bad as it could have been - I just think it was a weird day...
